Born & Bred in Wakefield (BaBi Wakefield) is an interactive online exhibition exploring the experiences of families with new babies.

Through photographs, oral histories, objects, and a specially commissioned film, families from across the Wakefield district share personal stories about raising their babies.

Discover the realities of being a single parent, having twins, conceiving through IVF, and the unique experience of being a midwife and a mum!

The exhibition shares a new collection that has been developed by Wakefield Museums & Castles to complement the BaBi Wakefield project, an NHS project aimed at improving the lives of local people by collecting and analysing data about pregnancy, childbirth, and early years.

This collection will continue to grow as we follow our families over the next few years, documenting what it’s like to be a child growing up in Wakefield in the 2020s.

Explore the project and meet very cute babies through the online exhibition below!
