Our Year schools programme
There are three main strands to the programme:
- The Schools Culture & Heritage Access Bursary: aims to enable children and young people to experience the benefits of engaging in and with Wakefield's cultural activity. If you’re a teacher or educator in Wakefield planning a trip in 2024, you can apply for up to £366 towards the cost of a visit to a wide variety of inspiring venues. Funding must be applied for and spent within Our Year 2024.
- Get Creative - An A-Z of activities from contributors across Wakefield district and further afield. This booklet provides fresh ideas for you to dip into and try with your children and young people.
- Teacher CPD - Themes will explore outdoor learning, enabling meaningful and impactful pupil voice, exploring teaching practices, and object led enquiry. Leading the CPD sessions include Wakefield Museums & Castles, Theatre Royal Wakefield, National Arts Education Archive, The Hepworth Wakefield and more.
After consultation with teachers a new set of resources to support areas of the curriculum will be launched at an Our Year teachers conference on 5th December. Details will be released shortly on the Our Year website Our Year - Schools | Experience Wakefield and Traded Services Our Year 2024 - Schools | Wakefield Traded Services.
