Using Objects to Inspire KS3 Workshop

Links to literacy, language and local history are developed throughout this workshop.

How were historic objects made?
Who made them or used them?
What stories might they tell about the past?

In this interactive workshop pupils will have the opportunity to handle and examine real historic objects from the museums collection. They will learn some key facts about the objects and the time that they are from and they will then create short poems or stories inspired by the objects.

This session will provide a starting point for the pupils' creative writing which can then be further developed back at school.

Teachers can choose from a variety of time periods or historic themes for this workshop, including:

  • Roman
  • Medieval
  • English Civil Wars
